I’m Shelby and welcome to ShelbyPharmD! I graduated with my Doctorate of Pharmacy in May 2021. I completed my PGY-1 in 2021-2022 and my PGY-2 Ambulatory Care residency in 2022-2023. After residency, I started my current role post-residency in August 2023 as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) in primary care at a Veterans Affairs community based outpatient clinic which as been my dream job since I was a pharmacy student.
I created my Instagram account in May 2020 after seeing the power of healthcare professionals on social media to inspire and educate others. It was not easy to find pharmacy students or pharmacists sharing their stories and advice, so I wanted to help fill this area. I have always enjoyed mentoring pharmacy students since I was a first-year student. The pandemic and starting rotations limited the opportunities to mentor, but social media allowed me to continue this and reach students across the country and even internationally!
I created this blog as a way to expand upon my Instagram posts (those dang caption limits) to share more tips, resources, and more. I also want to share more of my life outside of pharmacy and promote school-life balance!
